• What are Ductless Heating/Cooling Systems?

Posted on October 12, 2017 by North Shore Mechanical Contractors in News.

Ductless Heating and Cooling Systems are also called ductless heat pumps, as well as ductless mini splits, and are highly effective in heating and cooling homes. Another thing that is necessary to record is that these “machines” are extremely quiet and that is one of the things that really pushes this system over the top for customers. While it is quiet, it also provides maximum year-round comfort and can cut electricity & heating costs significantly.

    How Does it Work?

This style of heating and cooling system uses heat pump technology to distribute warm air and has a similar process cycle for the cool air distribution. There are usually three main units that make up a ductless unit, including the following:

Outdoor Unit: The Outdoor unit should be placed into an area that will keep it as safe from the elements as possible. While it is difficult to protect it from everything, like rain, etc., it is still possible to keep it in an area where it will get the least wet, or the least covered in snow for everyone living in area where that occurs.

Indoor Unit: The indoor unit is the central piece of this ductless unit, as is what keeps your home warm or cold during the changes of season.

Remote Control: This piece is for the user, as it had the ability to control the temperature of the room.

The outdoor and the indoor units are both connected by cables. The air travels through the outdoor unit, through the cables and then passes through a refrigerant line, which then leads to the central unit. This unit is located indoors, and should be placed in a central area, as this is where the air will be distributed.

There are many benefits to ductless heating and cooling systems. These include the following:

    • Monthly Savings of 25-50%
    • Increased Comfort in the Home
    • Heating and Cooling in One System
    • Air Purifying Filters
    • Easy, Low Cost Installation
